Farm Safety Display

We were delighted to welcome a team from the Grand Opera House to school today to help make our children aware of the dangers of being on a farm.  They gave a very important message on many ways we can stay safe.

Travelling Book Fair

This year we celebrated the arrival of the Travelling Book Fair with a fancy dress day.  To create a focus around the books and to promote a love of reading, the pupils were encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.  We also invited the parents and children from Dunclug Nursery to browse through our selection of books and gave them the opportunity to purchase.  We had a great response from each class in the school and raised over £200 which will be well spent on reading materials for the school.  Thank you!!

Sustrans Project

At Dunclug Primary School we are began working with the Sustrans team to complete our Bronze Award for sustainable travel to and from school. Sustrans are a charity who work alongside schools, businesses and communities to encourage and promote active travel.

We want to encourage our pupils to travel to school in active way in the hope that we will achieve the following:

- Improve our pupil health and wellbeing by encouraging regular exercise

- Reduce traffic around our school entrance making it a safer place

- To lessen our impact on the environment by reducing traffic

In 2017/18 we will be completing a range of activities and events to spread this message.  We have already held a 'Ditch the Dark'  day to promote road safety.  Throughout the year we will have regular assemblies and visits from our Sustrans officer Johnny, we will keep you informed of exciting activities ahead including on-road cycle training, The Big Pedal, bicycle workshops and cycling proficiency.  Keep an eye out for pictures in our gallery section of the website.
